Queanbeyan City FC: A Macedonian-Australian Football Legacy
Founded in 1966 by the local Macedonian community as “Queanbeyan Makedonia,” Queanbeyan City Football Club has become a pillar of sporting excellence and cultural identity in the Queanbeyan-Canberra region. With the colours of red, yellow and black proudly worn, the club blends its Macedonian roots with a passion for football and community.
Over more than five decades, Queanbeyan City has produced league titles, nurtured youth talent, and become a gathering point for families and supporters of Macedonian descent. Its home at High Street Oval is not just a venue for matches, but a place where culture, sport and connection come together.
For the Australian Macedonian Council NSW, Queanbeyan City FC represents how our heritage continues to shape Australian sport, where community-driven clubs foster belonging, excellence and the next generation of players.
